A few years ago, friends and I invited one of my Somali neighbors who was moving to the Twin Cities to come to my home for a farewell party. She was able to invite anyone she wanted. I was nervous since I didn't know what to expect but we had a wonderful time together. Many of her friends came and some brought their young daughters. They also brought lots of food. So my table was overflowing! The conversation was sweet as we each shared what brought us to the neighborhood. I don't believe many of these women had ever been invited into a person's home other than their friends. It brought us all much joy. Many hugs were given!
